Orville Redenbacher is Back and Now it’s Your Turn!

imageThe original review of the Orville Redenbacher popcorn bowl and microwave popcorn samples and the coupons and the crinkly wrapping made you weak in the knees. It made you wish you had some lovely popcorn to sit and eat out of your very own Orville Redenbacher popcorn bowl.

I felt your jealousy. I felt your popcorn craving…the one that feels like when you’re at work and someone makes popcorn in the microwave and even though you are sitting miles away from the microwave you can smell it and your mouth is watering. You hate the person with the popcorn because you know if it was someone you were cool with they would have already come to your desk and offered you a handful.

Because everyone knows the person that makes popcorn in the microwave is sending the rest of the office into a Pavlovian drool-filled popcorn trance. It cannot be helped – the smell of microwave popcorn is perhaps one of the most recognizable smells in the world.

And now it can be yours absolutely free.

What We Are Giving Away?

A plastic Orville Redenbacher popcorn bowl (like the one shown) with four packets of microwave popcorn in it. There are also coupons for more popcorn.

How Many Are There?

There are two packages so there are two winners!

How Do I Win?

Leave a comment telling us the most unusual popcorn topping you’ve ever used. Or the most unusual place you’ve ever had microwave popcorn. Or the last time you attended the Popcorn Day Parade in Valparaiso, IN (I went in ‘92! w00t!) Then, because there are two bowls with popcorn to give away, tell a friend about the contest and have them come and leave a comment. The more, the merrier!

We will use random.org to choose the winners – entries will be accepted until Tuesday, June 17th at 11:59pm and winners will be announced on the blog Wednesday, June 18th.

Yum! I actually worked for an employer who banned microwave popcorn because our office always smelled like a movie theater.

  2. egspoony says:

I kinda feel a little dumb but my popcorn topping of choice is either a hotdog, or reeces pieces…

Yes, a hotdog at the movies is awesome (and expensive) but I “dip” it in the popcorn then take a bite of it, with a few popcorns (popped kernels?) on the end of it… :D

When I go with my friend, he loves candy and thus will get Reeces or something. He gives me a handful and with no place to put them, I would just throw them into the popcorn… so I can get them or popcorn or both… tastes good!

I would have to say I’m the most boring popcorn eater. I always eat it on my couch and always have butter on it. I wish I had a unusual story to tell.

  4. I’m another boring popcorn eater, but I like all varieties, plain, butter, caramel, cheese, you name it.

  6. Kristi Alexander says:

I love drizzling caramel and chocolate together on it.

Another is heating butter and brown sugar up to get this sweet buttery sauce for it.

    Yummy!

  7. Jo says:

Okay I didn’t do this but my kids love it for some reason…. ketchup. Yes, my kids think that buttered popcorn with ketchup on it is really good.

I’m going to blame it on their father’s side of the family. ;)

Greetings, What a fun contest! I love the bowl and of course the popcorn. The most unusual topping I have put on my popcorn is “Strawberry Nestle’s Quik~” It isn’t too bad. Please enter me in your delightful drawing. Many thanks, Cindi

I love melted Junior Mints on popcorn!

  11. Deanne S says:

I once tried to make caramel popcorn without a recipe. I used a butter/sugar/vanilla concoction but it just shriveled my popcorn to mush. Needless to say there was nothing caramel about it.

  12. Jewel Jernstedt says:

I put wasabi on popcorn once. Yeah, I won’t be doing that again.

  13. No unusual toppings here. Though I did always enjoyed making popcorn balls with my kindergartner classes when teaching.
I take care of my 95 year old grandfather now and he loves his bowl of popcorn while watching the Rangers baseball game.
When I was younger, I went to the movies all the time, so never got popcorn. Now that I rarely go to the movies, the whole experience wouldn’t be complete without movie popcorn, and since I rarely go, the expense is justified.
Thanks for such a great contest!

  21. Julie Kenyon says:

I tried to make carmel pocorn balls for Christmas one year. What a mess. Spent half the night trying to remove the ingredients from my hair! We love the Movie Theater Popcorn with a little popcorn salt.

  22. Dale Louderback says:

    Everybody loves popcorn.

  23. Well, I am a classic. I love popcorn plain. However, I also love popcorn with the following toppings: butter and salt, caramel, chocolate, chocolate and marshmallows (mmmm good), and peanut butter.

I think the craziest I ever thought I was being was when I poured the chocolate and mixed mini marshmallows in it. It was fantastic!!! It’s a big treat in my house and with my daughters Girl Scout Troupe.

  24. Gwen L says:

I took the bag of cheese powder out of a box of Macaroni and Cheese to sprinkle on my popcorn. It was pretty good, too!

  25. Lisa says:

I melt chocolate chips in the microwave and pour over my popcorn. Sometimes I add a dash of cinnamon to give it just a little different flavor.

  26. Kim Allmon says:

Great contest! Even though I like weird combos when it comes to food (dipping french fries into shakes, mixing my mashed potatoes with corn, etc), I really haven’t been too experimental with popcorn. I’ve only sprinkled parmesan cheese powder with a little bit of spaghetti sauce over my popcorn…quite good. Since I live only 10 minutes away from Valpo, I stay away from that area during their popcorn festival…way too crowded for my liking (not to mention all of the bees that are around then)!

  27. Vickie COuturier says:

I love to use the cheese flavor left over from the macroni an cheese box an sprinkle over my popcorn, gives it a good taste to me,looks like im not the only one to do this too

  28. Kamil says:

  33. Fred Holmes says:

Trying popcorn with pepper on it was an unusual taste for me. While it was good, it was different from the traditional popcorn served at movie theatres.

  34. israel y says:

butter is the most unusual topping i have ever used, thanks for the contest

  35. Michelle says:

I have to admit to being rather mundane when it comes to popcorn toppings and locations. Now don’t get me wrong…I love popcorn and will often eat it as a meal, when I am too tired to make anything else, but I am pretty stuck in my ways, as far as just eating it with butter and a little salt. A few times I have gotten really adventurous and made a kettle-style of popcorn, by adding a little sugar, while popping it. The kids like it when I do this, but also add some food colouring along with the sugar, so that when it pops, we have blue or red popcorn. Oh yes, we are a wild and crazy bunch around here!!! (grin!)

I really can not think of any unusual locations where I have eaten popcorn…especially microwave popcorn. I do remember there were a few packets of microwave popcorn in a small basket at a suite we stayed in once and it was like a dream come true to be able to walk in the door and have a great-tasting snack unexpectedly waiting there to be popped and eaten.

  36. dh says:

My daughter and I like to put freshly grated parmesan cheese on popcorn . You have to do it as soon as it comes out of the microwave so that it sticks the best.

  37. SAMUEL WU says:

I used chipotle bbq sauce once, someone else had tried it or was dipping it in the sauce, wasnt half bad. guess popcorn can go with anything
    thanks for the contest/opp.
    good luck folks!

  38. forgetfulone says:

The most dramatic things I ever have on popcorn are seasoning salt and melted butter. I either have popcorn while I’m on the couch or at the movie theater.

  47. Kathy Conley says:

Most unusual is jalapeno and I don’t like it!

  48. Sandra says:

A friend of my son’s wanted paprika on the popcorn so we tried it. It was okay, but I prefer butter and/or olive oil and salt. It is also good when eaten with chocolate.

  49. Tom Sides says:

i love my popcorn with seaweed crumbles & rice crackers which in hawaii we call it mochi crunch.

  50. Nicole Price says:

I top mine with hot sauce and parm cheese. Yum!
