Cloth Diapers – Happy Heinys One Size

Have you ever seen a cow print diaper? Have you ever seen a cuter diaper? When this little piece of adorableness arrived from Simple Wonders Diapers, I nearly squealed with excitement.
But would the Happy Heinys usefulness hold up to the cute? Would it contain the ever changing results of a new-to-solid-foods baby? Would the “one size” actually be small enough for my tiny little peanut who weighs 13 lbs at 8 months and yet be large enough to fit a friend’s toddler? And most importantly, would the DH say “enough is enough” with the cloth diapers and quit on me?
Stay tuned to find out!
Cloth Diapers – Prefolds

Hello again, and welcome to the second review in our Cloth Diapering series. Today, we are going to talk about prefolds.
Prewhats? Prefolds. When you think about cloth diapers, this is probably the first thing that comes to mind. It’s a large rectangle of thick fabric that folds into thirds. The diaper can then be placed into a wrap, pinned with the diaper pins we all remember, or secured with a snappi.
This is the part of cloth diapering that felt the most overwhelming to me, so lets see how it works?

So, you’ve been thinking about making the switch to cloth? It’s intimidating, right? Oh, and expensive too! Well, not it isn’t. The switch can be made cheaply and easily, and cloth is just as easy as disposable, with the added bonus of no-guilt.
So what’s the hold up?
Oh, you don’t have any cloth diapers?
Well, we can fix all that! We’re going to get you on your way with a free, yes free, BumGenius 3.0 one-size diaper. This top-of-the-line diaper, courtesy of Cotton Babies, can be yours!
How you ask?
Just leave us a comment. Tell us your worst diapering story. Or pregnancy story. Or heck, any story at all. The funniest anecdote will be the winner!
Everyone has a story, but to break the ice, here goes:
My little Miss M was 2 months old, and we had just moved into our new house. As in the day before “just”. So, in addition to “new mom tired”, I had “just moved every frigging thing we own tired”.
I struggled into the nursery for the 3 a.m. feeding, a regular part of our routine at this point, and managed to find the crib and get us both settled into the rocking chair. I nursed our little girl, and didn’t even fall asleep in the process! I was so proud. I then changed her diaper, put her back to bed, and stumbled back to my own wonderful pillows.
Or so I thought.
In the morning, I awoke to a screaming baby, and a laughing husband. He was already up and had beaten me to the nursery, where he found M’s clean diaper — on the changing table! I had removed the dirty diaper, and zipped her back up into her blanket sleeper without putting the new diaper on!
Needless to say, there was a very wet and unhappy baby, and a mom facing an extra load of laundry that day.
I know you can beat my lame story, so lets hear it!
The winner will be the story that makes Jen and I laugh the most. Our decision is final. One entry per person, you have until 3 p.m. Wednesday to enter. The contest is open to residents of the U.S., and those the U.S. mailing addresses. The prize is one pink BumGenius 3.0 one-size diaper, Go ahead, make us laugh!
Cloth Diapers – BumGenius 3.0

Welcome back! As promised, we’ve made the switch to cloth diapers. We’re two weeks into the switch now, and I’m confident to start my reviews. I’ve tried a variety of diapers, purchased from a few different sources.
The important thing though, is that I’m not the only one who tried ‘em. My husband did too! He was very much opposed to the cloth diapering idea, thinking it would be a lot harder. His big request was that it be “as easy as disposables”.
Well, we started with the BumGenius 3.0, available from Cotton Babies.
Cloth Diapers: introduction

For the first 6 months of my daughter’s life, we used disposable diapers 100%. Back when I was pregnant, I mentioned to a few people (including my husband) that I wanted to use cloth diapers. I could not articulate my reasoning, but I knew it was what I wanted for our baby.
Well, you know how it is when you are pregnant, everyone else’s opinion takes on a much greater weight because you (or at least I was) are full of self-doubt. So, I listened to mothers who hadn’t used a cloth diaper since the early 1980’s, and I listened to people who don’t have the same priorities as my husband and I, and I listened to my husband; who frankly was scared, and whose goal was to make things as easy as possible.
So, we went the Pampers and Huggies route. It was easy. It was convenient. It was cheap.
A few weeks ago though, I decided that it was time to make the switch. I ordered a few different types of diapers, and will be reviewing them over the next few weeks. We’ll see if my preconceptions were right. We’ll see if my husband can handle the change. We’ll learn things we probably aren’t even expecting to learn. Here’s the details:
Playtex Diaper Genie System 2

I thought everyone on Earth had a diaper genie, or had at least heard of them! I certainly never imagined that a mom with two kids in diapers, who uses disposables, wouldn’t have a diaper genie. I was wrong! (Hi Jen!)
These things are in all the magazines, all over the t.v. news shows whenever they cover “nursery necessities”, and I thought were pretty much ubiquitous. Learn something new every day.
