A Duck in New York City (review)

I have to admit, when I saw this book slide out of the envelope, it took my breath away.
Because as much as I try to stay totally unbiased when I review things, I saw that duck and wanted to give it a big hug. Doesn’t the duck look like it needs the hug? Not in a sad, pathetic way…more of a ohmygoshitssocuuuute way.
So, I was basically praying the book would be half as good as the cover art…because if the book was bad, well, the duck would cry. Then I’d cry and it would be a mess.
A Silly but Effective way to get Toddlers to Clean

I use songs the most when the girls are cleaning.
Convincing a two and three year old to clean is difficult enough. Keeping the momentum going to clean a whole room is almost impossible! Songs are a way that we all have fun while cleaning.
Our favorite is sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star:
Clean up, clean up, little girls
With your bouncing hair and curls
Putting all your toys away
To mess them up another dayClean up, clean up, little girls
Bouncing hair and curls and twirls
This always gets the kids smiling and they like to put extra “bounce” into the bouncing hair and curls line. Occasionally they decide to pretend they are hopping bunnies and I have to corral them back to finish the playroom. It’s worth it, though, because bunnytime is adorable. Plus, I don’t mind if they take breaks now and then as long as they come back and finish what they started.
They’re fantastic and I love singing with them.
One song they haven’t learned yet is “Beans, beans, the musical fruit…:” I guess that’s a good thing because I found out from the Bush’s website today that beans aren’t a fruit, but a vegetable. Personally, I was under the impression they were Legumes and that those were different from veggies. Shows what I know!
If you want to participate, Bush’s is going to send a lucky winner to NYC to sing their song in Times Square! Visit the Bean Chant site to participate in the Magical Veggie Challenge and you could be meeting Drew Lachey!
If i were to rewrite the “Beans, beans, the musical fruit…” song so it was correct it would go a little something like this:
Beans, beans, are not a fruit
This vegatable has protein to boot
The more you eat, the better you feel
So eat your beans at every meal!
See, you could totally do better than that!

Cloth Diapers – Happy Heinys One Size

Have you ever seen a cow print diaper? Have you ever seen a cuter diaper? When this little piece of adorableness arrived from Simple Wonders Diapers, I nearly squealed with excitement.
But would the Happy Heinys usefulness hold up to the cute? Would it contain the ever changing results of a new-to-solid-foods baby? Would the “one size” actually be small enough for my tiny little peanut who weighs 13 lbs at 8 months and yet be large enough to fit a friend’s toddler? And most importantly, would the DH say “enough is enough” with the cloth diapers and quit on me?
Stay tuned to find out!
Cloth Diapers – Prefolds

Hello again, and welcome to the second review in our Cloth Diapering series. Today, we are going to talk about prefolds.
Prewhats? Prefolds. When you think about cloth diapers, this is probably the first thing that comes to mind. It’s a large rectangle of thick fabric that folds into thirds. The diaper can then be placed into a wrap, pinned with the diaper pins we all remember, or secured with a snappi.
This is the part of cloth diapering that felt the most overwhelming to me, so lets see how it works?
Cloth Diapers – BumGenius 3.0

Welcome back! As promised, we’ve made the switch to cloth diapers. We’re two weeks into the switch now, and I’m confident to start my reviews. I’ve tried a variety of diapers, purchased from a few different sources.
The important thing though, is that I’m not the only one who tried ‘em. My husband did too! He was very much opposed to the cloth diapering idea, thinking it would be a lot harder. His big request was that it be “as easy as disposables”.
Well, we started with the BumGenius 3.0, available from Cotton Babies.
Funky Monkey Fruit Snacks Review

When I received the brightly colored, freeze dried snacks in the mail my first thought was, “Oh my gosh! It’s astronaut food…but healthy!”
My next thought was, “What is up with that monkey?” But I did not have much time to consider that because the overwhelming jazz music on the website along with the constant movement kind of made me think I was having an acid flashback. (Just a guess, as I’ve never done acid.)
Of course, the website and the monkey aren’t what we’re here for. We’re here to discover if the Funky Monkey freeze dried gluten-free organic fruit snacks that are cholesterol free TASTE good and if they’re something I’ll give to my toddlers…
